From the re-start Brecon were again on the offensive and the pace of Ben Griffin told as he sped away to score his first try of the match. In response Merthyr created space and narrowed the points gap with a great individual try of their own.
Brecon immediately reacted to the set back. Some flowing passing moves across the backs set up tries for Ben Griffin and Dan Hiscocks, giving them a comfortable lead. However, such was the pace of the game that Brecon were unable to relax and this was emphatically rammed home when Merthyr made the most of some weak defence and poor handling and scored two tries of their own just before the half time interval.
With the momentum with the home team and now playing down the slope, Merthyr had their tails up as they sought to further reduce the deficit. That score would have come but for one superb 50 metre chase and try saving tackle from try scorer Ben Griffin. Although denied a try Merthyr continued to press and from a line out inside the Brecon 22 they were only held at bay by some fierce tackling by Charlie East and Jacob Beetham in particular. Although Brecon's defence held firm for the time being the tide seemed to be in Merthyr's favour until Dan Hiscocks broke away out of defence to score a fine opportunist try.
The score shifted the balance of power and in the final quarter of the game Brecon ran in three more tries to complete a satisfying third win of the season.
